The Trail Management Process needs to be dusted off by having a Zone Leader meeting before biking starts in the spring. A list of long term projects needs to be established. ACTION ITEM: Open/Jeremiah
Pine Hill - 75% of an initial uphill trail has been done by a volunteer with remaining to be done in spring 23. Also, a connecting downhill trail is funded for fall 22 and spring 23. WMNEMBA needs to decide how to use the $8,500 grant received for PH. There is still a lot of open area that is unplanned that could be used for gravity oriented trails similar to Coos County. ACTION ITEM: Open/Jeremiah
Forest Service - Waiting for the date of the annual meeting where we will try to get final approval to close the loop on the HS trail and other direction. ACTION ITEM: Open/Jeremiah
5. Community:
Jeremiah shared the following:
Attended a meeting with MWV Trails Assoc. who works with local stakeholders to ensure the ongoing existence of multi use trails for recreation. He explained that WMNEMBA plays an active role in maintaining MTB trails in the valley; however, some trails do not have proper land use agreements which will need to be rectified. ACTION ITEM: Open/Jeremiah
A parking lot was created at Rodgers Crossing for access to fat biking trails. WMNEMBA will be grooming there, Marshalls, and maybe East Side with the snow dog. We are still looking for folks who would like to groom and also a trailer to house and transport the groomer. No bare booting will be allowed at Rodgers Crossing. ACTION ITEM: Open/Jeremiah
Trail Maps - Ready to go except need to put the Forest Service logo on the map and send to MinuteMan Press for printing on waterproof paper. ACTION ITEM: Open/?
6. Communication
Vision and Goals - Plan to send a questionnaire out to get input for 2023 vision and goals. One goal should definitely include to grow the membership and bring in an effort to recruit some young people. ACTION IEM: Open/All
Dawn encouraged everyone to use Golden Volunteer in order to manage trail work and document trail work hours in support grants. ACTION ITEM: Info only
7. Other:
John Barley asked why TNT died in Sep . Basically a lot of people had gone out of town and no announcements were made. In the future, we will make an announcement when TNT has stopped for the year. John also mentioned that a Trail Care app was once used that we might want to use in place of Golden Volunteer. ACTION ITEM: Open/Dawn
An attendee was concerned that we don’t have information available to relay the chapters goals and objectives, focus is very narrow, no group rides, and trail work needs not advertised well. Needed QR codes on signs and have our logo on everything so people know we exist. We’ll look at those areas to see how to improve. ACTION ITEM: Open/All
Dave Hubblebank volunteered to lead some MTB rides in 2023. ACTION ITEM: Open/All
8. The meeting adjourned at approx. 7:30pm. The next meeting will be in the spring.
